Patent 3,693,731: The Nuclear Subterrene They Claim Was Terminated

United States Patent 3,693,731. September 26, 1972. Method and Apparatus for Tunneling by Melting. Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the United States Atomic Energy Commission.
This is not a conspiracy theory. This is a government patent. Filed January 8, 1971. Granted September 26, 1972. Invented by Dale E. Armstrong, Berthus B. McInteer, Robert M. Potter, Eugene S. Robinson, John C. Rowley, and Morton C. Smith — all of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. The same facility that built the atomic bomb.
The abstract reads: “A machine and method for drilling bore holes and tunnels by melting in which a housing is provided for supporting a heat source and a heated end portion and in which the necessary melting heat is delivered to the walls of the end portion at a rate sufficient to melt the rock and during operation of which the molten material may be disposed adjacent the boring zone in cracks in the rock and as a vitreous wall lining of the tunnel so formed.”
A nuclear submarine that drills underground. A machine that circulates liquid lithium through a compact nuclear reactor to heat a drill head up to 930 degrees Celsius. It melts rock, vitrifies the walls, and bores at speeds conventional excavation tools cannot match. The tunnel it leaves behind has glass-smooth walls requiring zero structural reinforcement — the perfect foundation for magnetic levitation rail.
The government claims the program was terminated in 1976. Four years after the patent was granted. A technology that could revolutionize underground construction, eliminate the need for structural tunnel supports, and create transit corridors at unprecedented speed was allegedly abandoned after four years.
Or it went black. And the tunnels it has been building for the last fifty years connect facilities that the surface world has never been told about.
This patent is public record. Look it up. Read it. And then ask yourself why the technology was “terminated” four years after the men at Los Alamos perfected it.
